Costa Fortuna

Costa Fortuna is executing its final official seasons under the Costa Cruises flag through September 2026, at which point it exits the fleet for a complete brand conversion. The ship was built in 2003, making it the oldest active hull in the Costa fleet, and has been sold to Margaritaville at Sea for a full refurbishment and rebrand as the Margaritaville at Sea Beachcomber launching in January 2027. Current sailings are genuine Costa product — traditional Italian-market service, assigned dining, Mediterranean itineraries — but this is a farewell season on aging hardware.

Costa Fortuna has been officially purchased by Margaritaville at Sea and will emerge in January 2027 as the Margaritaville at Sea Beachcomber — the largest ship in Margaritaville's fleet at 102,500 GT with capacity for approximately 3,450 passengers. A major drydock refurbishment is scheduled for late 2026 before the relaunch from PortMiami on Caribbean itineraries. The ship will be the third and largest vessel in Margaritaville's growing fleet.

Costa Fortuna features the classic Fortuna-class interior design — high-occupancy, vibrant indoor public spaces, multi-deck atrium, Italian maritime artwork and vintage liner tributes throughout. The ship was built to celebrate Costa's 50th anniversary and the interiors honor Italy's ocean liner heritage with scale models and historical references. This is not a glass-and-LED mega-resort — it's a traditionally styled Italian cruise ship.

Costa operates a low headline fare structure but charges separately for beverages including still water at the main dining room table, mandatory daily service charges (approximately €11-12 per person per day), and specialty dining. The beverage charge catches first-time Costa bookers off guard — this is a Costa fleet-wide policy, not specific to Fortuna. Pre-purchasing a beverage package before sailing is strongly recommended for families.
