Celebrity Ascent: The Newest Edge-Class Ship — The Honest 2026 Guide
Celebrity Ascent launched in November 2023 as the fourth and newest Edge-class ship. Here is what the Edge-class design actually delivers, how the multi-venue dining model works, and who should choose Ascent over Celebrity's Solstice-class ships.
Celebrity Ascent is the fourth and newest Edge-class ship, launching in November 2023 as the most refined iteration of Celebrity's Edge-class concept. She carries approximately 3,260 passengers — identical in hull design to Celebrity Edge, Apex, and Beyond — but benefits from construction refinements and updated design details applied with each successive Edge-class build. The core Edge-class features are all present: Infinite Veranda staterooms, the four-deck Eden space, Rooftop Garden, and the multi-venue main dining concept with distinct restaurant themes included in the base fare.
The Infinite Veranda on Ascent works by retracting the full floor-to-ceiling front wall of the stateroom, merging the cabin and veranda into a single open space. In warm weather and calm conditions, the experience is genuinely exceptional — the cabin becomes an open-air room. In cold destinations like Alaska or Northern Europe, or on rough sea days, the wall stays up and the veranda functions more like a large panoramic window. Guests who want to physically step outside and feel the wind prefer a traditional balcony. Guests who want maximum light, sea views, and a spacious feel inside the cabin prefer the Infinite Veranda.
Celebrity Ascent does not have a single traditional main dining room. Instead, the Edge-class multi-venue dining concept includes four distinct restaurant concepts at no extra charge: Cyprus (Mediterranean), Cosmopolitan (classic American), Normandie (French-influenced), and Tuscan (Italian). Each has its own menu and distinct atmosphere. This is exclusive to Edge-class ships — Celebrity Solstice and Millennium-class ships have a single main dining room. The Oceanview Cafe buffet is the included casual dining option and consistently scores well across Celebrity's fleet.
Eden is the defining space on every Edge-class ship — a three-deck glass-enclosed living environment at the stern of the ship that transforms from a quiet cafe and restaurant by day into an immersive performance space with acrobatics, live music, and theatrical entertainment by night. The Rooftop Garden is the outdoor centerpiece: a landscaped top-deck space with live music, al fresco dining, and lawn games. The Sunset Bar at the stern is the best spot on the ship for sailaways — panoramic views aft with a full cocktail menu. These three spaces are where Edge-class ships genuinely differentiate from every other mainstream line.
Celebrity sits in the sweet spot between mainstream and luxury — modern ships, excellent dining, and a sophisticated atmosphere without the ultra-luxury price tag.
